Seeking Wisdom is convinced that humanity is in the early stages of a civilizational crisis –a crisis in the ideal to
which all our institutions and all our efforts are ordered. This crisis will take a long time –perhaps centuries— to
resolve. And the way in which it will be resolved is far from certain. While we hope –and work—for a transition in
which institutions are consciously and intentionally restructured in service to an emerging ideal centered on
seeking wisdom and ripening being, we must be prepared for what has been more common during past
civilizational crises: a transition through decadence, in which a new way of life emerges as the old one slowly
disintegrates—or outright civilizational collapse.
Both because of this strategic analysis and because of our conviction that humanity’s vocation, while historical
and intimately bound up with the project of civilization building, also reaches beyond history towards that great
un-nameable which calls all things into Being, Seeking Wisdom takes a longue durée and even transhistorical
approach to political-theological strategy. We are
learning from and conserving the achievements of past civilizations and forging a vision for the next
steps in the human civilizational project
engaging existing institutions and building new ones that they can carry that vision forward, and
identifying, training, and mentoring leaders who can contribute to forging our vision and engaging and
building institutions.
Our aim is profound, very long term impact. We are not interested in economic empire building, state power, or
cultural hegemony for their own sake, but rather in affecting the long term course of human history and in
cultivating spiritual and civilizational leaders at the very highest levels.
